One small swipe for a finger, a
giant leap for text entry
JetWay Technologies developed JetKeys™, an innovative enabling technology aimed at improving text entry capabilities in small and compact
handheld devices.
The basic idea is to provide multi-function keys on each key in the text entry
keypad. Several letters can be typed by each key based on the direction of
activation of the key.
In numeric keypad arrangment with 3 x 4
keys each key implemented as a
4-way key, i.e., each key is sensitive to 4 activation states
by applying, during the key selection, slight force or a swipe to up, down, right or
left direction. The downward direction provides the numbers while the
left, up and right direction associated with the Latin letters.
Other arrangments based on QWERTY keyboard arrangment as well
as 2-way (left-right or up-down), 5-way (4-way plus non-directional press) are also
avaliable. International languages support as well as accent, captilzation
prefixes and suffixes are comfortably supported.
JetKeys™ can be integrated with text prediction
and text completion tools. Using JetKeys™ you can choose in each letter
typing if you want to type explicitly the letter or give text prediction a
chance to guess your wish.
